Spring reading
Victore Victore and more Victore! Needless to say, it's been an exciting spring and the studio's hopping! (A big thank you to the Decoder Ring Design Concern and all our good buddies down in Austin for letting us crash your studio to get that Time cover out!!)
And, To all the amazing and lovely moms out there– Happy Mother's Day and thank you for making our world a better place. We love you!

TIME for a change
Wow! Just got word that James's Time magazine cover will be hitting newsstands next Friday. But here's a sneak preview. This year's Time 100 (the 100 most influential people) will have five covers: one by Mr. Victore, Neville Brody, Euro RSCG, and two by Chip Kidd. How wonderful!
Spring Fling
Just returned from a lovely + exhausting trip to my favorite city and hometown, Austin. Amazing how much it's changed since I left (more high-rise luxe condos than W'burg), and yet it's still so damn cool...
If anyone's headed that way, be sure to hang at the Hotel San José, the Broken Spoke, Uchi, the Harry Ransom center, and Mount Bonnell.

We love L.A.
Just back from our fabulous and way too short week in Los Angeles. Most of our time was spent setting up and taking down the show (with the help of a bevy of lovely DWR ladies pictured above). The show was awesome and a great entreé into the L.A. scene– I feel it was an excellent stepping stone to something even bigger. In our brief spare time, we got a quick chance to visit some old friends and hang out in our favorite spots- sweet little shops in Silverlake- crazy dinner at El Conquistador- a little star-gazing at the new LAmill coffee shop- and a drop-in at Gary Baseman's studio. It all went by too quickly, and we vowed to spend more time out west as soon as possible.

March Madness
The question I kept coming back to for the last couple months has been "To blog, or not to blog?" and sadly, I have chosen the latter option. It could've been the pressure to come up with the "perfect" post, or maybe just winter hibernation tendencies. But, all hope is not lost. Thanks to a polite nudging by the lovely Debbie Millman last night at dinner– We're back in the game! Spring is around the corner, and an abundance of life and energy seems to be just there under a thin layer, waiting for that first righteous dose of warmth and sunshine. Sooo ready for it.
The biggest news to date is James's DWR show next Thursday night (April 3) in Beverly Hills! He is unveiling his "American Badass" Collection of custom crafted surfboards, and it is sure to be fun, hot, fabulous, and everything L.A. Be sure to swing by if you're in the area. Here's all the info you need.
Also, be sure to check out DWR's newest edition of Design Notes!
AND, my vote for the coolest maddest place to be this July has to go to the SahreVictoreWilker design workshop. If you're up for an insanely fun time stretching your brain, definitely check it out! The deadline is May 1st, so don't drag your feet.
Latest inspirations to share:
David Mamet's new book "Bambi vs. Godzilla" – A brilliantly written account of the Movie Biz from the award-winning mega-rockstar writer/director
"The Last Picture Show" – A film directed by Peter Bogdanovich and based on the novel of the same name by Larry McMurtry. I've found McMurtry's writing to be the perfect medicine for a Texan stuck in the brutal New York City mid-February doldrums.
and, a longtime favorite, singer/songwriter/storyteller/all-around amazing guy Robert Earl Keen Jr. We've been playing a lot of his stuff in the studio lately. New stuff old stuff, it's all good.
